Musculoskeletal Complications of Diabetes

Musculoskeletal Complications of Diabetes, a one hour accredited course, discusses the issues related to long-term diabetes, hyperglycemia and musculoskeletal complications. These complications include areas affecting the feet, joints and body structures. Dysfunctions causing these changes are thought to include microvascular abnormalities, neuropathic changes, and glycosylation of protein and collagen accumulation. Problems with feet are often the most debilitating. These problems are also preventable with proper care. This course will review all of these areas and concentrate on prevention of foot problems and care of the diabetic foot. Several handouts included.
