Diabetes Self-Management Training (DSMT) and Teacher EffectivenessDiabetes Self-Management Training (DSMT) and Teacher Effectiveness is a two-hour course. Numerous studies have shown positive changes in various indicators of diabetes control and prevention or delay of diabetes complications when people receive DSMT. What is the most effective form of DSMT? What outcomes should be targeted? Should they differ for specific populations? This program will present several of the effective qualities identified, which will assist educators in developing their educational programs. Adult learner characteristics, educational assessment, teaching techniques, goal development and outcome measurement will be presented.
